"My first exposure to jiu-jitsu came with watching the UFC and other MMA matches in 2004. When I entered the police academy in 2005, I was really excited to learn some basic jiujitsu techniques during the arrest and control (defensive tactics) portion of the academy.

I finally took the plunge into jiujitsu in March 2012. As a police officer who faces dangerous situations on a daily basis, jiujitsu relieves the job stress by allowing me to decompress physically, mentally, and emotionally. Jiujitsu has become a great compliment to my physical fitness routine as well as another tool to compliment my skills as a police officer. I feel that after starting this jiujitsu journey that I am more humble, patient, and confident; not just out on the streets, but in my life as well. I love both the physical and mental challenges that jiujitsu offers"
