Christa Casis. Independent distributor, musician, self described cat lady, Jiu Jitsu practitioner.
"I used to feel like I never fit into a category. In high school I was friends with sporty kids, artistic kids, bad kids, nerdy kids, band geeks, etc. I loved having a variety of friends from every clique but there's a point where everyone asks themselves where exactly they fit in.
When I started Jiu-Jitsu I fell immediately in love with it as an art that constantly challenges you. It's a constant evolving, never ending puzzle. Jiu-Jitsu is frustrating, it makes you challenge yourself every time you bow onto those mats. Life is frustrating, and life challenges you every single day. When you train, you're not just training physically but mentally. You're preparing yourself for the next match, for your next competition, and for the next time that life knocks you back (and trust me it will). When I step onto the mats and train, I'm training with family. It's gives me a light feeling to know that I am a part of a community where I am supported, I can support, and I am challenged. Every person is so unique and no person will ever feel left out in the bjj community. I fell in love with bjj as an art but even more so with the people. I train to evolve, to learn to evolve, and to never stop evolving."
